Steven Drew, 43, was arrested last week after members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office were called to investigate a shooting in the 1000 block of Albemarle Road in Sterling when gunshots rang out after his dog was hit by a car that kept going.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, at around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, a white vehicle struck a dog that entered the road and continued south down Albemarle Road, at which point Drew allegedly took out a gun and began firing several rounds at the passing car.
On Tuesday, the sheriff's office said that driver who hit the dog came forward, and there will be no charges filed against him. The animal - which was unleashed when it went into the road - was evaluated and treated by a local vet after being struck.
Drew is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Detention Center.
